Effective January 2005, Ohio University joined the consortium of universities operating the MDM Observatory on Kitt Peak, Arizona. In May 2005 President Roderick McDavis and other Ohio University officials visited the MDM facilities during Professor Markus Böttcher's inaugural observing run on the 1.3-meter telescope.
