Forum on International Physics American Physical Society JOURNAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM (Last Update: 29 January 2005) INTRODUCTION. You will find below a list of prospective donors of journals, books and software available free of charge to recipients (except for shipping expenses - see below). The list of materials - ordered by title - indicates the issues available from each donor. The numbered list of donors appears at the end of this document. Contacts should be established directly between donors and recipients. If exchange has taken place or if journals are otherwise no longer available, please notify the person in charge of updating the list: Prof. Sergio E. Ulloa, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Ohio University, Athens, OH 45701-2979. Please contact him for any questions on this list and further updates: 740-593-1729 (Office); 740-593-0433 (Fax); and ulloa@helios.phy.ohiou.edu (E-mail). UPDATES. Future updates of the JEP list can be obtained via a WWW browser. The site address is: http://www.phy.ohiou.edu/~FIP/FIP.html and it can be reached also via the APS home page: http://aps.org You can also access the current version of the list by anonymous ftp to helios1.phy.ohiou.edu (use your e-mail ID as password). The subdirectory ulloa/ contains the file JEP with the current list information. Please distribute this information to other possible donors or recipients. SHIPPING. The shipping expenses are normally covered by the receiving institution. However, in some cases limited financial help from other sources might be available to help defray shipping costs. The previous method of sending journals through the Smithsonian has unfortunately been abolished. A possible source of shipping costs, and information on other journal collections available for donation, is the ICTP in Trieste. Please consult their website for details on their mode "From donor to the recipient": http://www.ictp.trieste.it/~donation/#MODES We have also heard reports that it is possible to send journals through agencies of some embassies. Check in each case. To our knowledge the cheapest mail shipping method is the so-called "Direct Sack" or "M-bag" which can hold up to 66 lbs. OTHER PROGRAMS. Donors who need to dispose of the materials quickly, may be interested in one of various other programs. Two we know of are: 1) Books for Asia - http://www.bridge.org/Books.html 2) The Gaza Library Project. Their address is: Michael Payne, Secretary to the Trustees 8 Dennys Lane, Kelsale, Saxmundham Suffolk IP17 2PD Tel/fax: 01728-603379 LISTS. Journals available follow first. Then books (if any). JOURNALS AVAILABLE FOR DONATION. Numbers following entry, and preceded by a D, refers to list of donors at the end. Issues available in parenthesis. If an asterisk appears, volumes may not be complete (some issues missing); please check with donors. A.A.V.S.O.
