Sample Transfer Suitcase Bake Out
In order to bake out
the sample transfer suitcase you have to follow certain steps
1- Take the magnet that controls the transporting receptacle
off the transporter rod
2- Open the gate valve between the suitcase
(SC) and the loadlock chamber (LLC)
3- Open the valve between the LLC and the turbo pump (if LLC maintains by
Ion pump-IP)
4- Cover the windows
(Viewports) with Al foils
5- Wrap the body of Ionic Pump (IP) with foils too
6- Cover the flexible coupling (the bellow) with Al
foils
7- Cover the transporter
rod with Al foils
8- Wrap a sheet of foil around the gate valve between
the IP and the LLC
Those steps are the first things you do. After doing so, follow instructions
as below
9- Wind a 6 foot heating tape (HT) on the transporter rod stating from the
farthest point from the suitcase and cover the whole rod
10- Wind a 4 foot HT around the IP body
11- Wind another 4 foot HT around SC from top viewport to IP body
12- Wind a 2 foot HT around the the flexible coupling (the bellows)
Repeat 4-8 steps again
with Al foils after winding the HTs, do the following
instructions
13- Connect the 2 foot HT’s to a variable transform (power supply)
14- Connect two 4 foot HT’s to a variable transform (you may use two if needed)
15- Connect the 6 foot HT’s to a variable transform (power
supply)
16- Set the current through the 2 foot HT’s at 0.8
Amp at 90V, T <= 110 C, T(Silcone HT, Tmax
= 204 C, I max =0.86A at Vmax = 120V)
17- Set the current through the two 4 foot HT’s at
1.6 Amp at 90V, T <= 200 C, (Silcone HT,
Tmax = 204 C, I max = 1.73A at Vmax = 120V)
18- Set the current through the 6 foot HT’s at 2.0
Amp at 80V, T <= 110 C (Silcone HT, Tmax = 204 C, I max =2.60A at Vmax = 120V)
19- Let the suitcase bake out for two days
20- Turn off bakeout and wait for cooling down completely,
take all the foils and the HT’s off
