The CMSS program at Ohio University gives students the
opportunity to use state-of-the-art research equipment from many different
university departments. Equipment available to CMSS faculty and students
include dilution and other helium refrigerators and cryostats, superconducting
and normal magnets, computer-controlled furnaces, a Mossbauer spectrometer,
ultra-high-vacuum systems, an infrared spectrometer, electron microscopes,
a scanning tunneling microscope, and a number of workstations and minicomputers
with access to the Cray Y-MP supercomputer at the Ohio Supercomputer Center.
