Notes for Physical Science 105/105L

  1. Class attendance is required. A student is responsible for material covered in class at all times, regardless of whether the student is absent or present. The student is responsible for completing any makeup work resulting from her or his absence.
  2. Homework is mendatory. A homework set is available on the URL of the class on Thursdsay of each week and is due Friday of the following week, unless otherwise notified in class.
  3. Ohio University has a very strict policy on academic dishonesty. Anyone found cheating will receive a zero for that exam or quiz.
  4. Bring a pencil and calculator to exams. Make-up exams will be arranged only for University-approved reasons. Exams contribute to the total grade according to the grading chart given on the opposite page. The final grade resulting from all exams, quizzes and labs will be curved.
  5. Quizzes will be given weekly. These quizzes will be based on recent material covered in class or given as reading assignment prior to class. These quizzes may typically contain 3 or 4 questions. A student is allowed to miss one quiz. There will be NO make-up quizzes.
  6. 105L only: Anyone missing more than 2 lab reports will fail the course. Make-up labs can be arranged (for missing a lab due to a University-approved reason) with the Physics Curator (593-1689). Read the makeup policy posted on the door of the laboratory or download it here.
