The fall'05 observing run for Dr.Boettcher at the 1.3m Mc.Graw Hill Telescope
was from 21st to the 26th of September. Over 6 nights, one of which was clouded
out 80% of the time (and just as luck would have it, that was the night when
I actually took charge, and got to sit on the "BOSS's Chair"), and another one
being pretty windy (yeah, wind shake can be a problem with the 1.3m), we got
a substantial amount of data, covering five Blazars, and follow-up of the optical
afterglow of GRB050922C over 3 days as a bonus. I did the preliminary data reduction
for each day there itself, and carried out the photometry on 3C454 once I came back
to Athens. I knew that observing was fun, thanks to Dr.Statler's lab, but found out
this time that it can be comfortable too (no offence to the freezing nights out on
George Ebert's backyard, but long live control rooms with a roof on top!). Other
than that, enjoyed the 2 mile walks up the mountains to eat food, took in the great
scenery around to heart's content, and got initiated enough into the world of
shorthand to be able to write my name (quite a big step, huh?), thanks to Dr.Boettcher.
Overall, a memorable experience.
The film roll is still sitting inside my camera, so got to wait...
